Mixed Taste: the Seis de Mayo kickoff event!

Hailed as one of the favorites from the 2009 Mixed Taste event season, Bollywood West will return to the MCA Denver, debuting new choreography and providing a crash-course in "Bolly-WHAT?" to kick off the 2010 Mixed Taste series.

The Denver Post spotlights Bollywood West dance classes in an exclusive full-page feature!

Do you know the point where Bollywood and Parkour collide? Is there Parkour in Bollywood? Do Parkour Traceurs put their hands up and say "Om Shanti Om?" Join us June 19, 2009 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LoDo, when Bollywood West and Apex Movement face-off in a non-sequitur showdown. The rules are simple: The first speaker speaks for a half-hour, then the next speaker speaks on a completely unrelated topic for another half-hour, and then there is collaborative question and answer on both topics at the same time.

Bollywood West and the 17 finalist candidates of Miss Asian-American Colorado performed the opening dance sequence to the Grand Finale show, at the Teikyo Loretto Heights theatre, May 30, 2009. Congratulations to all the brilliant finalists, and thank you to Asian Avenue Magazine!

Bollywood West made history, performing center-field at Coors Field and headlining the MLB/Colorado Rockies’ International Day entertainment, Tuesday May 12, 2009. This may be the first time bollywood dance has been featured at any MLB event!

The Starz Denver Film Festival was burning up the red carpet of Danny Boyle’s newest film, “Slumdog Millionaire”, as Bollywood West dancers performed at the “Big Night” premiere and presenting-sponsor gala!

The Boulder Arts Commission's Dance Bridge presents their annual Dance is for Every Body showcase of the finest and most diverse dance companies and studios in the area. Come join Bollywood West’s performing troupe for this fantastic weekend of events and performances, at the Boulder Public Library's Canyon Theatre, Saturday November 8th at 3:30pm.

Bollywood for America! Students who wear their “I Voted” sticker to class receive a free class on Election Day, Tuesday November 4, 2008. Get out and VOTE!

Little India’s 10th Anniversary gala to celebrate their 10th year of being voted “Denver’s best Indian food” will feature the best food, unlimited drinks, DJ and dancing, with Bollywood West performing live at 8pm! Thursday August 14th, 2008 5-10pm, Tickets are $10 each and available at Little India restaurants.

The Boulder Asian Pacific Alliance hosts Boulder's largest Asian heritage event, featuring music, dance, martial and performing artists, plus fantastic food and shopping, on the beautiful Pearl Street Mall, across from the courthouse. Bollywood West performs August 16th at 2:30pm in another extended-length set!

Bollywood West will be dancing at the 9th Annual Rocky Mountain Tea Festival August 2nd. This year’s Saturday Night Tea Dinner will feature teas of India, paired with a fantastic four-course dinner, and live dancing by our troupe. Seatings start at 5:00pm.

The region’s favorite Asian-Pacific-American cultural event, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, draws over 100,000 people to Sloan’s Lake park. Bollywood West will be performing at the CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair on June 7, 2008 at 5:30pm on the Performance & Cultural Stage. The People’s Fair is a celebration of the diverse Denver urban community and a fantastic weekend of great family fun, carefully selected handmade arts & crafts, delicious culinary delights, and fabulous entertainment.

Bollywood West will be one of the featured entertainers at the Denver Zoo’s 18th Annual Do At The Zoo. This year’s fundraiser hopes to gain support for the new Asian Tropics animal life exhibit. Bollywood West will be kicking off the evening of great food and fun with a high energy dance performance, and Jammin in the Jungle all night long! For ticket information, contact the Denver Zoo.

Bollywood West will be presenting new work, with Storm, at Motion Underground’s Choreographer’s Ball on Saturday June 9th at Boulder High School. Our performance will be 4pm, but please join us for the entire day of visionary choreographers and talented dancers, sharing their works in an all-day showcase.

Bollywood West will be performing at the Third Annual Salute to Cultural Dances on February 3, 2007.

Bollywood West is featured on the cover of the latest Colorado Free University course bulletin!

Bollywood West was invited by the University of Denver’s ethnomusicology department to present a lecture and demonstration on the history of Bollywood dance and music, the evolution of multicultural musical traditions in the Indian diaspora, and the influence and use of Indian music by contemporary western music artists. Examining the history of motion picture in India, through the confluence of eastern and western pop cultures, students explored the rising popularity of multicultural music and the different influences leading to the creation of new styles like Bhangraton, Chutney Soca, South Asian hip hop, and Bhangragga. Following the lecture presentation, students participated in a Bollywood dance workshop, comparing western jazz, hip hop, and street dance movement to Indian classical and folk dance styles. Many thanks to Professor Morelli for creating this wonderful opportunity to share our passion and knowledge with DU students.
